FLORE

Interior design

Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Year: 2025

The two Michelin-starred and Green Star restaurant Flore has officially reopened its doors at Hotel De L’Europe in Amsterdam. We had the honor of redesigning the interior, just as we did in 2021 when we created the restaurant’s name and visual identity. For this new chapter, we translated chef Bas van Kranen’s vision of conscious fine dining into a spatial experience, rooted in sustainability, local craftsmanship, and Dutch natural materials.

From the custom oak-framed entrance to the flowing ceiling inspiring by the Amstel River, every element reflects the purity and refinement of Flore’s philosophy.

The overall atmosphere of Flore balances refined elegance with natural warmth. The colour palette is deeply rooted in earthy tones, from rich purples and burnt oranges to dove greys and pale heather, accentuated by the varied textures of lime hemp, patinated brass and oak wood. The interplay between rough, organic materials and smooth, polished surfaces creates a tactile and visually engaging environment that stimulates the senses without overwhelming them.

All interior elements, from tables and chairs to kitchen units and wall elements, were designed by us and handcrafted by Contrair Interiors.

This close collaboration allowed us to work with locally sourced materials and timeless construction techniques, reinforcing Flore’s focus on authenticity and local artistry. Each piece carries the marks of the maker, bringing depth, character and a sense of place to the space.
